Privacy Policy
Sportsmen has no accounts and no server of its own. Your workouts stay on your device. This policy explains the few things that do leave it, and your choices.
1. Who we are
Sportsmen (“the app”) is operated by Thuyen Nguyen, an individual in Vietnam (“we”, “us”). For privacy questions, write to sportsmen@apporig.com.
2. The short version
- Your workout history, goals, records, settings and optional body weight are stored only on your device.
- We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email, phone number or precise location.
- We use Adapty to manage subscriptions and Google Firebase for anonymous usage statistics and crash reports.
- There are no ads, no advertising ID, no tracking across other companies’ apps and websites, and we do not sell your data.
- You can reset all data in the app and switch off usage statistics at any time.
3. Data that stays on your device
The app saves the following in a local database on your device. We do not receive it.
- Completed sets, reps, weight, time, exercise history, personal records and streaks.
- Your goals, levels, schedule and reminder times, custom exercises and circuits.
- Settings such as units, theme, rest durations, sound, and which Iron skin you wear.
- Body weight, if you enter it (used only for calorie estimates).
This data is removed when you use Settings → Reset data or delete the app. If you use iCloud Backup or a computer backup, your device may include the app’s data in that backup under your own Apple settings; we have no access to it.
4. Data processed by services we use
Apple App Store. Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your payment card or Apple ID details. Apple tells our subscription service whether a purchase is valid.
Adapty (subscriptions). Adapty, Inc. checks and syncs your Premium status and purchases of Iron skins. It receives an anonymous profile ID, purchase and subscription information from Apple, and basic device and app details such as platform, OS and app version, language and country. It does not receive your name or email from us. See adapty.io/privacy.
Firebase Analytics (Google). Anonymous usage events such as which exercise was started, how many sets were completed, which screens and paywalls were opened, with app, device and OS details and an app-instance identifier. We do not put body weight, health data or free-text in events. Google may use your IP address to derive an approximate location and then discards it. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, collection is off until you tap Allow in the first-launch sheet; elsewhere it is on by default. In every region you can change it with Share usage statistics in Settings. We do not use the advertising identifier, ad personalization or ad storage.
Firebase Crashlytics (Google). If the app crashes, a report is sent with the error, app version, device model, OS version and an installation identifier, so we can fix the problem. Crash reports are not linked to your name.
These providers act on our behalf and under their own privacy terms: Google, Adapty, Apple.
5. Permissions the app may ask for
Each permission is optional and asked when needed. You can change it at any time in iOS Settings.
- Notifications: training-day reminders and the end of a rest timer. These are local notifications created on your device, not sent from a server.
- Camera: automatic rep counting. Pose recognition runs on the device; video frames are not saved or sent anywhere. AR mode uses Apple’s AR Quick Look, which is provided by iOS; we do not receive the camera image.
- Motion sensors: an alternative way to count reps, processed on the device and not stored or sent.
- Apple Health: if you turn it on, the app saves workouts (strength training, duration, active calories) to Apple Health and, with a separate permission, reads your body weight. Health data stays between the app and Apple Health on your device; it is never sent to analytics, advertising or any third party.
- Speech: the voice coach uses the speech engine built into iOS, on the device.
- Apple Watch and widgets: if you use them, workout state is shared between your iPhone, Watch and widget on your own devices through Apple’s system frameworks.
6. Purposes and legal bases
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, we rely on:
- Consent for Firebase Analytics in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, which you can withdraw in Settings at any time, and for the Apple Health and camera permissions.
- Contract for subscription and purchase checks through Adapty, so you get what you paid for.
- Legitimate interests for crash reports, to keep the app stable and secure, and for basic usage statistics outside those regions.
7. International transfers and retention
Google and Adapty may process data in the United States and other countries outside yours. Where required, they rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. Data on your device stays there until you delete it. Analytics, crash and subscription records are kept by the providers only as long as needed for statistics, stability and managing your purchases, under the retention settings of each service.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK, Switzerland or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, receive a copy, withdraw consent, and complain to your data protection authority. California residents may also ask what we collect and request deletion. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not discriminate against you for using these rights.
Most data is on your device, so you control it directly: reset data in Settings, switch off usage statistics, or delete the app. Because the identifiers we hold are anonymous, to find what relates to you we may ask you to send the profile or app-instance ID or details of your purchase. Email sportsmen@apporig.com; we aim to answer within 30 days.
9. Children
Sportsmen is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher age required by your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will help remove it.
10. Security
Data stays on your device under iOS protections. Communication with the services above uses encryption in transit. No method is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or the law changes. The version date is shown in the page footer; earlier editions are kept at /legal/<version>/. If a change materially affects how we use data, we will tell you in the app before it applies.
12. Contact
Thuyen Nguyen, individual, Vietnam. Email: sportsmen@apporig.com. For the EU Digital Services Act we act as a trader; this is our contact point for users and authorities.
